Manhole Rehabilitation

Importance of Manholes

Manholes allow access to the sewer line, join sewers together, align and change the flow direction, and provide ventilation so gases and odors can be released from the sewer lines. Manholes also provide access to the sewer lines in order to clean, inspect, maintain, and rehabilitate. Unfortunately, if manholes are not properly maintained, they will contribute to an excessive amount of inflow and infiltration. This leads to the deterioration of the wastewater collection system.

There are 3 main types of manhole rehabilitation lining options:

Cementitious Mortar

These linings can be installed quickly. Even though they require stopping infiltration to clean the manhole, they do not require the structure to be completely dry.

Polymer

Spray or hand-applied polymer linings include epoxy, silicates, polyurethanes, or polyureas.

Cured-In-Place Manhole

CIPM lining is a solid liner that is made up of a felt tube saturated with resin to form a solid liner. This method works well with any size and shape manhole and is water resistant.
